We have a very-very busy summer behind us, it's time to sum up what happened since we started our crowdfunding campaign on IndieGogo.
The campaign was a great success in terms of positive feedback, we were contacted by a lot of people, businesses and media who are enthusiastic about Useeme Bicycle Turn Signals. It validated the idea we've been working on for the last couple of years, which is a great relief.
At the same time, the campaign was not a big financial success story. We lacked the funds to properly advertise and we failed to get featured on top international tech and cycling websites so we didn't make our funding goal at the end. We raised 3310 euros and took preorders for more than 100 pairs of Useeme. You can read past updates regarding the campaign on our IndieGogo page.
Although TechCrunch and Gizmodo ignored us completely, we made it to a lot of cycling and tech websites including Bikerumor, Urbanvelo, Ciclosfera, Cyclo, Techmash, The Crowdfund Network, Gearminded and a lot of others - thank you all for that!
About a month into the campaign we met Kommpakk, a communications agency made up of very talented young professionals. They helped us get featured on a lot of Hungarian websites like Szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu, HVG.hu, MTRO.hu which led to interviews by Hungarian national radio and TV, and pretty nice press Hungarian coverage all around. Thank you again to everyone who wrote about us and thanks to Kommpakk for the brilliant job!
During and after the campaign we kept on developing our product and improved it in multiple ways. We now have a much more reliable hand signal detection algorythm, we built in a photosensor to optimize the brightness of the LEDs and we found a way to be able to offer Useeme in multiple colors later on.
Due to these changes we had to rewrite our timeline for the following months. Test pairs for the first round of public testing will be produced and delivered to test participants in October but serial production will only start in the first months of 2015. This allows more thorough testing before Useeme Bicycle Turn Signals hit the stores next March.
We've been working on our webshop in the last couple of weeks and we'll launch it before the end of September. The first round of preorders will be heavily discounted, you should sign up for a reminder on this page if you don't want to miss them.
We are also actively planning our regular distribution channels, working out wholesale prices and packages and looking for distributors worldwide. If you contacted us regarding distribution or wholesale, please bear with us a couple more weeks so we can get back to you with exact details.
This is the story so far, sorry again for a long time without an update here, we won't let that happen again. As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions or ideas.
